After several weeks of deliberation, I’ve have entered the Crossfit Open. I talked to several people about it – my coaches, box owners, fellow athletes, etc. and determined that if nothing else, it will be a learning experience. It’s exciting to be a part of a large sport that is impacting the lives of regular people like me (i.e. not professional athlete / competitor). To be able to see how I stack up to others all over the world, including the guys that will end up competing in the games, is an opportunity that most people don’t have.
What is the Open?
14.1 – Coming Soon
Each workout (“WOD”) is numbered according to the year and the order in which it’s released. For instance, this year’s first workout will be 14.1 and the fifth and final workout will be 14.5. The top 250 athletes from each region will advance to the regional competition and the top regional athletes will make it to the games this summer. The first WOD, 14.1 will be announced on February 27th at 5PM PST. All open competitors will be watching closely to see what the first challenge will be. I know I will
have my refresh button ready.
Update: I’m a Gear Junkie
Because I am admittedly a gear junkie, I knew I would have to grab one of these awesome 2014 Open shirts. Maybe it’s because it’s my first open, or maybe it’s because it looks like a real competitor’s shirt, or maybe just because it’s a sweet design. Whatever the reason, I have one on order. It’s almost time for the Open!
