Initial Thoughts on the Advocare 24-Day Challenge
I have been looking forward to beginning the Advocare 24-Day Challenge, since my initial order arrived about a week ago. I had done my research, read up on the products and the layout of the program and was ready to go. Here are my initial thoughts after completing the first day of the challenge.
Read Instructions Carefully
This had been stated many times on many of the resources (including Advocare’s materials), however I still messed up the first day. Know exactly what and when you are supposed to take each supplement before you dive in and start opening packages. I was so excited to get started that I overcomplicated things. Following along in the provided workbook or with the mobile app simplifies everything.
The Fiber Drink Isn’t as Bad as I Had Expected
From everything I had read from others that have gone through the challenge, the fiber drink was going to be horrible. I’ll admit, it wasn’t the greatest, but I was expecting worse. I have also heard to get the Peaches and Cream flavor, though I learned that after already ordering the Citrus. I still recommend the pour, stir and immediate chug method of consuming. It helps avoiding the taste too much and gets it over with quickly.
I Can’t Drink the Meal Replacement Shake
First of all, let me say that the chocolate meal replacement shake is delicious. However, I don’t think I will be able to continue to drink it due to allergy issues. I’m still working to figure out what ingredients I am reacting to, but will not continue to have the meal replacement for breakfast. I will continue to mix the fruit and protein smoothie that I have been making for breakfast:
- 1.5 Cups Almond milk
- 2 Scoops of Progenex Recovery or More Muscle protein
- 2 Tbsp Almond Butter
- 1/2 – 1 Cup Strawberries
- 1/2 Cup Blueberries
I recommend the Advocare meal replacement shake if you do not have any known food allergies. Otherwise, you may want to check the ingredients very closely to avoid any type of adverse reaction.
In addition to the products in the 24-Day Challenge kit, I am adding a few of the optional supplements from Advocare. I’m taking Catalyst, which is designed to maintain muscle mass while losing weight. Since weight loss is not one of my goals over the challenge, I felt like supplementing with Catalyst would be a good idea. I’m also using Nighttime Recovery, an amino acid and herbal supplement designed to promote muscle growth and repair during sleep. This product came highly recommended due to my level of physical activity (Crossfit 5 days a week), so I have added as an additional aid to recovery.
