The Spartan Race is an incredible event. Thousands of people gathered together to conquer courses ranging from 3+ to 12+ miles of trail running and a set of largely unknown obstacles. I was impressed with the efficiency with which the event was run, given it’s size. I will definitely be participating in a Spartan event in the future. I’m even being encouraged by my boys to earn the Spartan Trifecta. Admittedly, this was in the back of my mind already after finishing the Sprint.
At the end of the day I learned a lot. I further realized that we never know what we’re capable of until we try, including scaling an 8+ foot wall without any help. I learned that nothing is physically beyond our means, if we are willing to train hard enough. And most importantly I was once again reminded of how much more fun these life experiences are when shared with family. I was so proud of my two older sons for participating. The little guy is already planning to do the next one.
